Stones Throw Beat Battle #532 - Reverb Special

giphy.gif

Theme

Inspiration for this week's theme was a tech demo of the Big Sky reverb pedal by Peter Dyer, keyboarder of Aloe Blacc.

It can be found here: link

This is much more than a tech demo.. 11 minutes full of musical ideas that can be further developed. And now they will :)

Samples

http://www95.zippyshare.com/v/XTKUZgsp/file.html

Rules

- Flip the sample (one or more parts)

- Time limit: 2 Minutes

- no outside samples

- Outside drums, bass, synths, keys, acapellas / rap allowed

-  Special rule (mandatory): as the sample is taken from a reverb pedal demo, it has a lot of reverb here and there. Counter the reverb by adding at least one obviously dry element to your track, for example a very dry outstanding snare or bassline.. it should be strong enough to balance out the reverberated samples

The Fine Print:

Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include "STBB 532" in the title, and POST TO THIS FORUM by Wednesday at Midnight, Pacific time. Try to leave as much feedback as you can and you will receive it back.

For easy browsing's sake, you can also go to the STBB page: http://www.soundclou.../stbbcollection

EVERYONE VOTES - by Friday at Midnight, Pacific time

Winner: post new sample, rules, etc by Saturday at Noon, Pacific time and upload the sample here: http://www.zippyshare.com

will we be in compliance with the special rule if we use at least one dry element (such as a bassline without reverb)? And other instruments can be wet?

Hey All, Congrats and killer reverb samples. Half the two track drums are dry half not. The bass and keyboard are hard to hear but are dry also.

Peace, Hugh

Congrats. Used the jazz piano sample, added a ton of additional reverb to it, and layered it with my own keys.

Congrats on the win! I used two parts from the sample, sprinkled in some keys, strings and a dry as hell snare.
